Given the reputation of many world renowned educational institutions in Canada, more than 130,000 students come to study in Canada every year and even more come to Canada to learn English or French. Canada appreciates that foreign students bring a rich culture to our classrooms and welcome their knowledge and skills  in Canadian schools. As a foreign national you may not study in Canada unless you are in possession of a study permit. It should be noted, however, that if the course or study program lasts for 6 months or less, a study permit is not required.
